Mosquito FB Mk.VI/NF Mk.II (1/48) 61062
The de Havilland Mosquito was one of the most versatile and successful aircraft of WWII, earning the nickname “Wooden Wonder” for its all-wood construction. Powered by twin Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, it was originally designed as a high-speed bomber capable of outpacing enemy fighters. Early Air Ministry hesitation due to its unarmed, wooden design was quickly overturned after the prototype achieved speeds of 630 km/h, surpassing the Spitfire’s performance at the time.

The Night-Fighter Mk.II variant was equipped with 7.7mm nose-mounted machine guns and AI Mk.IV radar, excelling in bomber interception and night defence. The Fighter-Bomber Mk.VI, armed with four 225 kg bombs and eight rockets, proved devastating against ground targets, shipping, and U-boats. Serving in theatres from Europe to Burma, the Mosquito’s rugged wooden structure provided surprising durability, securing its reputation as one of the RAF’s most valuable assets of the war.
