History:
The German Afrikakorps, under the command of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, operated in North Africa from 1941 to 1943 as part of the Axis campaign to control the Mediterranean. These troops faced the harsh desert environment while engaging British and Commonwealth forces across Libya, Egypt, and Tunisia. The Afrikakorps was known for its mobility, tactical innovation, and strong esprit de corps. Troops typically wore tropical uniforms in pale green or sand tones, and were equipped with Kar98k rifles, MG34/42 machine guns, and light support weapons. Despite being under-resourced compared to Allied forces, the Afrikakorps earned a reputation for resilience and tactical skill. This set captures the appearance and character of these troops during one of WWIIs most iconic theatres.
