History:
At the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, French infantry formed the bulk of the force opposing Henry Vs English army. Heavily armoured men-at-arms advanced on foot in muddy, rain-soaked fields under a hail of English arrows. Despite their superior numbers, the French were hampered by terrain and overconfidence, leading to a devastating defeat. The infantry included both professional soldiers and feudal levies, equipped with a variety of polearms, swords, and crossbows, and clad in mail, plate, and padded gambesons. Their banners and livery reflected the rich heraldic traditions of medieval France. This set captures the determined and colourful appearance of French foot soldiers during one of the most iconic battles of the Hundred Years War.
