History:
During the early medieval period, Ireland remained free from Roman conquest and developed a unique warrior culture centred on clan loyalty, raiding, and personal combat. Irish warriors often fought in small, mobile warbands, favouring hit-and-run tactics and guerrilla warfare. Armed primarily with javelins and light weapons, they were skilled at ambushing and harassing more heavily equipped foes. These warriors played a central role in resisting Norse incursions during the Viking Age and later participated as mercenaries in conflicts throughout the British Isles. Wargames Atlantics Dark Age Irish Warriors set captures the spirit and versatility of these historic fighters, making them a valuable addition to any Dark Age collection.
