History:
The “Desert Rats” were part of the British Eighth Army, serving in the North African Campaign from 1940 to 1943. Originally formed as the 7th Armoured Division, the Desert Rats became a symbol of British resilience and mobility in desert warfare. Operating in the harsh conditions of Libya and Egypt, they fought in critical engagements such as Operation Compass, the Siege of Tobruk, and the Battle of El Alamein. Equipped with khaki drill uniforms, sun helmets or berets, and standard-issue weapons such as the Lee-Enfield rifle, Bren gun, and Thompson SMG, these troops adapted quickly to the rigours of desert combat. This set captures the look and spirit of one of Britain’s most iconic fighting forces of WWII.
