History:
During the late 15th century, many knights and men-at-arms fought dismounted, particularly in battles where terrain or tactics made cavalry charges impractical. Between 1450 and 1500, conflicts such as the Wars of the Roses and Burgundian Wars saw increasing reliance on foot combat, where plate-armoured warriors wielded swords, axes, polearms, and maces in brutal close-quarter fighting. These foot knights retained their elite status on the battlefield, often serving as the core of noble retinues or as shock troops in key assaults. This period also saw the refinement of full plate armour, offering excellent protection while allowing surprising mobility. This set represents the grit and grandeur of Europe’s battlefield elite at the twilight of the medieval era.
