History:
By 1916, the German Army had transitioned into a more flexible and modern fighting force in response to the brutal trench warfare of the Western Front. The iconic stahlhelm helmet replaced the spiked pickelhaube, and new tactics, such as infiltration and stormtrooper units, were introduced to break the deadlock of static warfare. The soldiers of this era were often battle-hardened veterans, equipped with updated weapons and specialised gear for close-quarters and trench combat. Wargames Atlantics 191618 German Infantry set faithfully represents these late-war troops, giving modellers and gamers the tools to recreate the dramatic and desperate battles of the Great Wars final phase.
