History:
The Zulu nation rose to military prominence in the early 19th century under the leadership of Shaka Zulu, and by the time of the Anglo-Zulu War in 1879, its warriors were regarded as one of the most formidable indigenous fighting forces in southern Africa. Organised into regiments (impi), Zulu warriors fought with great discipline, courage, and speedarmed primarily with the short stabbing spear known as the iklwa and protected by large cowhide shields. They used coordinated horn-shaped manoeuvres to outflank and envelop enemy formations. Despite facing a technologically superior British army, Zulu forces achieved remarkable victories, most notably at Isandlwana. This set represents the strength, tradition, and tactical prowess of the Zulu warrior during the height of their resistance to colonial rule.
