History
The Northrop Grumman B-2A Spirit is a long-range strategic bomber developed for the United States Air Force. Designed during the Cold War to evade advanced Soviet radar and air defences, the aircraft first flew in 1989 and entered service in 1997. Its flying-wing configuration and cutting-edge stealth systems allow it to deliver both conventional and nuclear weapons deep within contested airspace. Only 21 examples were produced, each given unique names such as “Spirit of America” and “Spirit of Kansas.” Operated by the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, the B-2A remains a cornerstone of U.S. strategic deterrence and is planned to remain in service until at least the 2030s. This aircraft stands as a symbol of American airpower and technological achievement.
