History
The Boeing E-3 Sentry entered service with the US Air Force in 1977, revolutionising airborne command and control. Fitted with a rotating AN/APY-1/2 radar dome, the aircraft can track hundreds of targets over vast distances, coordinating both air defence and offensive operations. The E-3G is the latest modernised version, incorporating updated avionics, digital communications, and improved radar capabilities. It continues to play a central role in USAF and NATO operations, providing unmatched situational awareness and coordination in conflicts and exercises worldwide. Even after decades of service, ongoing upgrades ensure the Sentry remains a vital asset in modern air warfare.
