History:
The Grumman F-14A Tomcat entered service in the early 1970s as the US Navy’s premier fleet defence fighter. Equipped with variable-sweep wings, advanced radar, and the long-range AIM-54 Phoenix missile, the F-14 was designed to intercept threats at extended ranges. VF-143 “Pukin’ Dogs” became one of the squadrons most associated with the Tomcat, deploying extensively during the Cold War and later in operations over the Middle East. The F-14 remained a symbol of naval aviation until its retirement in 2006, leaving a lasting legacy as one of the most recognisable fighters of its era.
