History:
The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II entered service with the US Air Force in the 1960s and quickly became a cornerstone of American air power. The F-4C variant was the first version delivered to the USAF, playing a major role in the Vietnam War. Equipped with powerful J79 engines, long range, and the ability to carry a diverse weapons load, the Phantom performed interceptor, strike, and close air support missions. Despite the challenges posed by North Vietnamese MiG fighters, the Phantom proved versatile and durable, contributing to both air superiority and ground attack operations. Its service in Vietnam established the Phantom as one of the most important combat aircraft of the Cold War era. Academy’s 1/48 scale kit brings this aircraft to life with authentic Vietnam War markings and detail.
