History
The Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer was a compact German tank destroyer built on the chassis of the Czech Panzer 38(t). Its low silhouette, sloped armour, and 75mm PaK 39 gun made it a formidable ambush weapon during the later stages of World War II. In May 1945, as German control collapsed, Czech resistance fighters seized Hetzers from local depots and factories around Prague. These captured vehicles, often hastily repainted and marked, were turned against German forces in the Prague Uprising. Their use symbolised both the ingenuity and determination of the resistance, as well as the unique circumstances of the war’s final days. Academy’s kit reflects this chapter, offering modellers the chance to build a Hetzer representing liberation rather than occupation.
Note: This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.
