History:
The Junkers Ju-87 Stuka was one of the most recognisable aircraft of the Second World War, infamous for its wailing sirens during dive-bombing attacks. The Ju-87G, introduced in 1943, was a late-war variant adapted for anti-tank operations. Fitted with two Bordkanone BK 37mm cannon pods beneath the wings, the Ju-87G proved devastating against Soviet armour on the Eastern Front. Pilots like Hans-Ulrich Rudel became legendary for their tank-killing exploits in the aircraft. Despite being outdated and vulnerable to enemy fighters, the Ju-87G remained effective in its specialised role, demonstrating how the ageing Stuka design was adapted to meet new battlefield challenges.
