History
The Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf B, better known as the King Tiger or Tiger II, entered service in 1944 as the pinnacle of German heavy tank design. Equipped with thick sloped armour and the devastating 8.8cm KwK 43 gun, it was capable of destroying Allied tanks at extreme ranges. The Henschel turret, introduced after the initial “Porsche” design, became the standard production version. Though mechanically complex and fuel-hungry, the King Tiger proved nearly invulnerable in direct combat, requiring coordinated Allied tactics to defeat. Deployed in Normandy, the Ardennes, and on the Eastern Front, the tank became a symbol of late-war German armoured might. Today, surviving examples remain museum centrepieces and a testament to the extremes of WWII tank development.
Note: This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.
