History:
The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was introduced in 1940 and quickly gained a fearsome reputation for its agility, long range, and combat effectiveness. The A6M5c Type 52C was one of the later production variants, incorporating thicker wing skin, additional armour, and heavier armament to counter increasingly advanced Allied aircraft. Despite these improvements, the Zero’s performance declined as Allied fighters such as the F6F Hellcat and F4U Corsair entered service. Nonetheless, the Zero remained the backbone of the Imperial Japanese Navy’s fighter force until the end of World War II. The Type 52C, with its combination of speed and firepower, took part in many late-war battles, including the defence of the Japanese home islands.
