History:
The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk was one of the most important American fighters of WWII, serving on nearly every front. The P-40M, introduced in 1943, featured improved performance with the Allison V-1710 engine and aerodynamic refinements, while the P-40N was the final and most produced variant. These versions were lighter, faster, and more capable, serving in both USAAF units and Allied air forces including the RAF, RAAF, and RNZAF. In the Pacific, Mediterranean, and China-Burma-India theatres, the P-40M/N excelled in ground-attack and air support roles. Though overshadowed by newer fighters later in the war, the Warhawk remained a dependable workhorse, cementing its legacy as a tough and reliable combat aircraft.
