History:
The Sopwith Camel entered service in 1917 and quickly established itself as one of the most effective Allied fighters of WWI. Powered by a rotary engine and armed with twin synchronised machine guns, the Camel proved exceptionally agile but challenging to master. It became the mount of many of the top Allied aces and was credited with shooting down more enemy aircraft than any other Allied fighter of the war. Despite its reputation for tricky handling, the Camel played a decisive role in gaining air superiority and supporting ground forces during key offensives. Its enduring legacy makes it one of the most recognisable aircraft of the early 20th century.
