History: The Sturmgeschütz IV (StuG IV) Sd.Kfz.167 was produced from December 1943 as a stopgap solution after Allied bombing disrupted StuG III production. Based on the Panzer IV chassis, it mounted the effective 7.5cm StuK 40 gun, making it capable of engaging both infantry and armoured targets. Deployed in both Eastern and Western fronts, the StuG IV proved reliable and deadly in defensive roles, where its low profile made it a difficult target. Over 1,000 units were built, solidifying its place as one of Germany’s important armoured fighting vehicles of the late war period.
