History:
The German Tiger I was introduced in 1942 and quickly gained a fearsome reputation for its heavy armour and powerful 88mm KwK 36 gun. By the time of the Normandy Campaign in June 1944, mid-production versions of the Tiger I were in service with elite units such as the schwere Panzerabteilung 503. These tanks played a key role in countering the Allied invasion, fighting in Caen, Villers-Bocage, and other critical battles. Despite its strengths, the Tiger I suffered from mechanical unreliability and was increasingly challenged by the growing Allied air superiority and anti-tank weapons. The Normandy 70th Anniversary edition of this model captures the Tiger I at the height of its deployment, symbolising both its battlefield dominance and the turning tides of the war.
