History
The McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) F/A-18 Hornet has been a cornerstone of US naval aviation since the 1980s. Designed as a carrier-capable multi-role fighter, it combined fighter agility with strike capability, proving itself in conflicts from the Gulf War to modern deployments. VMFA-232 “Red Devils,” the oldest and most decorated active Marine Corps fighter squadron, has flown the Hornet in combat operations worldwide.
