History
Commissioned in 1938, USS Enterprise CV-6 became one of the most decorated warships of the Second World War. Known as the “Big E,” she fought in nearly every major Pacific engagement, from Pearl Harbor to Okinawa. At the Battle of Midway in June 1942, Enterprise aircraft launched decisive strikes that sank three Japanese carriers, turning the tide of the war in the Pacific. Surviving repeated bombings and kamikaze attacks, she earned 20 battle stars—more than any other US ship in WWII. Decommissioned in 1947, the Enterprise remains a legendary symbol of US naval power and resilience.
