History
Dating back to the first half of the 13th century, Crupet Castle began as a solid tower surrounded by deep moats, likely owned by the Count of Luxembourg. In the 14th century, it passed to the Prince-Bishop of Liège, and in 1549, the Carondelet family transformed it into a residential estate, adding a new floor and a distinctive pyramidal roof. Over the following centuries, it changed hands through noble families, including the Mérode family, the Count of Tienes, and the Marquis of Boëssière.
Abandoned for many years, the castle was restored in 1925 by architect Adrien Blomme and remains in the possession of his descendants. Today, Crupet Castle stands as a blend of fortified medieval design and later residential elegance.
