AK35030 – M1008 CUCV Cargo Truck
The M1008 is the basic cargo truck variant from the first generation of light military utility vehicles manufactured by General Motors under the CUCV (Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle) programme. Based on the civilian Chevrolet C/K series, the CUCV family also included the M1009 utility vehicle, M1010 ambulance, M1028 shelter carriers, and the M1031 chassis-cab model.
Nearly 75,000 vehicles were produced between 1983 and 1987, with the majority—68,210 units—delivered to the US Army. Additional vehicles went to the US Air Force (3,578), US Marine Corps (2,973), and US Navy (504). These vehicles served globally, participating in key operations including the Gulf War and United Nations missions in Somalia. Although phased out beginning in 1994, many remained in use into the 2000s, including with the SFOR in Bosnia and during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. Some units were later sold or donated to allied nations such as Albania, Greece, Latvia, and Lebanon.
The AK35030 kit represents the standard cargo truck configuration, complete with troop seats that can be modelled in folded or unfolded positions. The tailgate is designed for flexible assembly—folded, unfolded, or movable. The included decal sheet features marking options for five vehicles: two US Army, two US Navy, and one SFOR vehicle, each with distinct colours or camouflage schemes.
