History:
The Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (PGC10) made its debut in 1969 as a four-door saloon before the two-door coupe followed in 1971. Powered by the S20 2.0-litre DOHC inline-six, derived from the Prince R380 race car, the PGC10 delivered 160 horsepower and quickly earned a reputation for dominating Japan’s touring car races. Its appearance at the 1970 JAF Grand Prix cemented its place in Japanese motorsport history, where it showcased its balance of power, reliability, and agility against international competition. The car’s nickname, ‘Hakosuka’ (box Skyline), reflects its squared-off styling and enduring cultural impact. With 50 consecutive racing victories achieved in its era, the PGC10 GT-R set the stage for the Skyline GT-R dynasty that would continue through the R32, R34, and modern GT-Rs. Today, the JAF GP variant remains a celebrated symbol of Nissan’s racing pedigree and an icon of Japanese performance heritage.
