History:
The Honda Beat, introduced in 1991, was the last car approved by company founder Soichiro Honda before his passing. Designed as a two-seat kei roadster, it featured a mid-mounted 656cc three-cylinder engine producing 63 horsepower, the maximum allowed under kei regulations at the time. Despite its modest output, the Beat’s lightweight design and responsive handling made it an engaging and fun-to-drive sports car. RS Mach, a Japanese tuning company, offered custom versions of the Beat with unique styling touches and performance enhancements, giving the car an even sportier appeal. Although production lasted only until 1996, the Beat developed a devoted following and remains a beloved classic. Its influence can be seen in later small sports cars, such as the Honda S660, and it continues to represent the spirit of compact, driver-focused motoring in Japan.
