History:
The Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R, introduced in 1969, marked the beginning of the GT-R legend. Initially offered as a four-door saloon before the more famous two-door coupe arrived in 1971, the car was powered by the advanced S20 2.0-litre DOHC inline-six engine, producing 160 horsepower. Known as the “Hakosuka” (a nickname derived from the Japanese words for “box” and “Skyline”), the car dominated Japanese touring car racing with an impressive streak of victories. Its combination of performance, reliability, and everyday usability helped establish the GT-R badge as Nissan’s performance flagship. Today, the Skyline 2000GT-R remains one of the most revered Japanese classics, celebrated for its motorsport achievements and its pivotal role in creating one of the most enduring performance car lineages in automotive history.
