History:
The Curtiss P-36A Hawk was a key transitional fighter for the United States Army Air Corps during the late 1930s. While quickly outpaced by newer designs, the P-36A proved its value during the early stages of World War II. Most famously, it saw action during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, where a handful of Hawks managed to scramble and engage enemy aircraft. Its robust airframe, retractable landing gear, and radial engine reflected modern features for its era, paving the way for the more advanced P-40 Warhawk. The P-36A also served in training and defence roles throughout the Pacific and Panama, cementing its place in American aviation history.
