History:
The Nakajima Ki‑43 II, first flown in early 1942, introduced thicker wings, armour plating and self‑sealing tanks while retaining extreme manoeuvrability. Commonly known as the “Oscar” it served in Japan and several foreign air forces under export programmes. The Hayabusa excelled in early Pacific and Southeast Asian campaigns before being superseded by newer fighters in 1944 1
