History:
The TS‑11 Iskra bis DF was a key development in Poland’s post-war aviation industry. Designed by Tadeusz Sołtyk, the Iskra first took flight in 1960 and became the Polish Air Force’s first jet-powered trainer. Its rugged construction, reliability, and balanced handling made it ideal for both basic and advanced pilot instruction. The bis DF variant introduced improved avionics and fuel capacity, with operational flexibility to serve in light strike and reconnaissance roles. Exported to several countries and flown by the renowned Polish aerobatic team “Biało-Czerwone Iskry”, the TS‑11 remains a symbol of Poland’s aeronautical progress during the Cold War era.
