History:
The Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) was originally developed as a support weapon for infantry units, evolving into an essential tank destroyer in the German arsenal. The Ausf.G variant, introduced in 1942, saw the highest production numbers and featured upgrades like thicker frontal armour and the long-barrelled 75mm StuK 40 L/48 gun. Its low profile and fixed gun made it ideal for defensive ambush tactics. StuG III units were deployed on all fronts, especially on the Eastern Front where they countered Soviet armour with lethal effectiveness. Despite lacking a turret, its reliability, cost-efficiency, and firepower cemented its legacy as a workhorse of the Wehrmacht. This kit captures the early production model’s key characteristics in stunning detail.
