Border Model Plastic Model Kit
Nashorn Sd.Kfz.164 (1/35) BT-024
This 1/35 scale kit from Border Model depicts the Nashorn Sd.Kfz.164, a German tank destroyer developed during WWII to counter heavy Soviet armour. The Nashorn combined a powerful 88mm Pak 43/1 anti-tank gun with a lightly armoured open-topped hull based on a hybrid Panzer III/IV chassis. It proved effective at long-range engagements despite its limited protection.
Border Model delivers this kit with a high level of accuracy, offering sharp surface detailing, well-rendered weld seams, and realistic suspension elements. Interior elements are included, such as breech components, ammo stowage, and floor plate detail. With optional position hatches and fine photo-etched parts, this kit caters to both casual builders and diorama enthusiasts.

History:
Introduced in 1943, the Nashorn (meaning “rhinoceros”) was designed as a stopgap solution to provide German forces with a long-range tank destroyer capable of defeating heavily armoured enemy vehicles. It served primarily on the Eastern Front and in Italy, where its powerful 88mm gun proved highly effective against Soviet and Allied armour. Though lightly armoured and vulnerable to close-range attack, its mobility and firepower ensured it remained in service until the end of the war.
