History:
The 15cm schwere Feldhaubitze 18 (sFH 18) was the standard heavy howitzer of German divisional artillery during World War II. Introduced in the early 1930s and used throughout the war, it formed the backbone of German indirect fire support, combining mobility with powerful 149mm shells capable of delivering high-explosive devastation at long ranges.
Mounted on a split trail carriage and equipped with rubber-rimmed steel wheels, the sFH 18 could be towed by horse teams or trucks. With a firing range of up to 13.3km, it was an essential asset in the Wehrmacht’s arsenal, providing crucial support during battles on both Eastern and Western fronts. Its robust design and adaptability made it a favourite among German artillery crews, and it continued to serve in various forms even after the war.
