History:
Introduced in 1917, the Ehrhardt E-V/4 was an evolution of earlier German armoured car designs. It incorporated several improvements over its predecessor, the 1915 model, most notably a redesigned frontal armour arrangement that reduced overall weight by 1.75 tons while maintaining battlefield protection. Additional enhancements included reinforced underbody plating, enclosed armoured boxes for the headlamps, and protective armoured mudguards shielding the double rear wheels. The fully revolving central turret gave the crew greater operational flexibility, making the vehicle more adaptable in combat. Deployed primarily for reconnaissance and security duties, the Ehrhardt E-V/4 represented the peak of German First World War armoured car engineering and served as a foundation for interwar armoured vehicle development.
