History
The Garford-Putilov armoured car was one of the most heavily armed vehicles of World War I, mounting a 76.2 mm gun in a rear turret. While powerful, the gun and its crew were exposed to shrapnel, small arms fire, and adverse weather when firing. To address these vulnerabilities, an armoured cowl was fitted over the gun, providing additional frontal and side protection while maintaining a workable firing arc. These modifications, implemented both at the factory and in field workshops, improved survivability and extended the operational effectiveness of the vehicle. For modellers, adding this feature is an authentic way to represent a battle-ready Garford-Putilov variant.
