History
The Garford-Putilov armoured car, originally introduced during World War I, remained in limited service well into the 1940s, often pressed into use by Soviet forces during the desperate early months of the Great Patriotic War. By 1941, many surviving vehicles had undergone field or factory modifications, including updated rear wheel designs better suited for the rough conditions and varied terrains of the Eastern Front. These improvements aimed to extend the operational lifespan of these outdated but still valuable armoured cars, allowing them to serve in secondary combat roles, convoy protection, and security duties. The 1941 pattern wheels are a distinctive visual feature that helps to identify these late-service variants.
