History:
Introduced in early 1916, the Nieuport 11 played a vital role in regaining Allied air superiority during the First World War. Its lightweight structure, powered by a Le Rhône rotary engine, provided excellent manoeuvrability, enabling it to outfly many German aircraft of the era. Armed with a single Lewis gun mounted above the wing, it avoided the complications of firing through a propeller arc. The Nieuport 11 served not only with the French Air Service but also with the British Royal Flying Corps, Italian forces, and several other Allied nations. Its success paved the way for later Nieuport designs, solidifying its place in aviation history as a pioneering fighter that turned the tide of aerial combat in 1916.
