History:
The Schnellboot, or S-boat, was Germany’s answer to the need for a fast, powerful, and seaworthy attack craft during WWII. The S-38 class, introduced in 1940, featured improved hull design, stronger armament, and enhanced seaworthiness compared to earlier models. Armed with torpedoes, cannons, and machine guns, the S-38 became a feared weapon in coastal warfare, conducting operations in the North Sea, the Channel, and the Mediterranean. These boats were highly effective in hit-and-run attacks on Allied convoys, using speed and stealth to evade countermeasures. The S-38/1940 variant represents the height of Kriegsmarine fast-attack craft design, combining speed, agility, and firepower.
