History:
The Badger was a Canadian adaptation of the Ram Mk II tank, modified to serve as a flamethrower vehicle during the final stages of the Second World War. Created as a response to the need for close-in infantry support against fortified positions, the Badger replaced its main armament with a flame projector and was equipped with a large fuel reservoir housed inside the tank. These vehicles were typically used in support of Canadian and British infantry, especially during operations in North-West Europe following the Normandy landings in 1944.
Although the Badger was not as numerous as other flamethrower tanks like the Churchill Crocodile, it proved highly effective in combat. Its compact turret and Ram-based mobility made it suitable for battlefield support roles, particularly in urban environments and fortified areas. Gecko Models’ kit faithfully captures the distinct features of this unique vehicle, making it a valuable addition for modellers focused on late-war Commonwealth armour or specialised engineering equipment.
