History
Between 2010 and 2012, the British Army’s presence in Afghanistan was heavily concentrated in Helmand Province, where troops operated in complex and often hostile environments. This period marked a shift toward enhanced protective equipment and more flexible infantry tactics. The Osprey Mk IV body armour became standard issue, and improved helmets, communication gear, and sharpshooter rifles like the L129A1 were introduced to meet the demands of counter-insurgency operations. British troops engaged in partnered patrols, compound clearance, and FOB defence, adapting their methods to unpredictable terrain and asymmetric threats. Gecko Models’ depiction of this era captures a crucial moment in modern British military history, providing a detailed and respectful portrayal of those who served during these challenging years.
