History:
The Bedford MWD was a light military truck used extensively by British and Commonwealth forces during World War II. Developed in the late 1930s, it became a mainstay of British motor transport due to its ruggedness, reliability, and simplicity of manufacture. The MWD was a 15 cwt general service truck with a rear cargo body and a cab that, in this variant, was designed with a low aeroscreen and open structure to reduce silhouette and improve visibility. These vehicles served in a multitude of roles—from troop and equipment transport to radio communication support—across all major theatres of the war. The open cab version was often used in warmer climates like North Africa and the Mediterranean, where full enclosures were unnecessary. This IBG kit captures the unique features of the aeroscreen variant in crisp 1/72 scale, perfect for modellers looking to depict the vital logistics support behind Allied operations.
