History:
The Panzerkampfwagen II Ausführung a1 was one of the earliest German tanks produced in the mid-1930s, intended to bridge the gap until more advanced designs were ready for production. Though lightly armoured and armed with a 20 mm autocannon and a 7.92 mm MG34, it formed the core of Germany’s panzer divisions during the invasions of Poland and France. The Ausf. a1 was one of the initial pre-series production versions, incorporating design elements that would later evolve in subsequent variants. Though quickly outclassed by better-armed Allied tanks, the Panzer II remained vital for reconnaissance roles and training. This model from IBG represents the a1 variant with precise early war detailing and full interior, making it an excellent addition for modellers focused on the opening campaigns of World War II.
