History:
The Supermarine Spitfire remains one of the most celebrated British aircraft of the Second World War. Developed by R.J. Mitchell, the Mk.I entered service just in time for the pivotal Battle of Britain in 1940. Its elliptical wings, powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, and exceptional agility made it a formidable dogfighter. The subsequent Mk.II offered minor improvements, including a more robust powerplant and refinements to cockpit layout and armament. Spitfires played a crucial role in defending British skies during the darkest days of the war and quickly became a symbol of resilience and victory. This twin-kit set from IBG Models captures both variants with historical accuracy and advanced detail, providing modellers with the opportunity to build and compare two legends of the RAF.
