Italeri Plastic Model Kit
Italeri FIAT CR.42 Falco Assault/Night Fighter (1/48) 2842
The Fiat C.R. 42 “Falco” in 1/48 scale is a faithful reproduction of Italy’s last major biplane fighter, a symbol of transitional aviation design on the eve of World War II. Developed from the proven C.R. 32 “Freccia” and introduced at the end of the 1930s, the Falco offered superb manoeuvrability and ruggedness, qualities valued by its pilots even as monoplane designs were fast becoming the standard in aerial warfare.
The aircraft’s open cockpit, fixed landing gear, and mix of metal and fabric construction reflect its lineage and design philosophy. Powered by the air-cooled Fiat A.74 radial engine, the C.R. 42 achieved speeds of up to 400 km/h and saw extensive use by the Regia Aeronautica and later, the Luftwaffe. This kit includes a super decal sheet with markings for four different versions, including both Italian and German service liveries. It also features official collaboration with Aeronautica Militare, ensuring historical accuracy and licensing authenticity.

History:
The Fiat C.R. 42 “Falco” was introduced at a turning point in aviation history, where biplanes were giving way to faster, more powerful monoplanes. Despite this, the Falco earned a reputation for agility and mechanical reliability, qualities that kept it in active service across various fronts, including North Africa and the Mediterranean. Its use by both Italian and German forces highlights its adaptability, and today it remains an emblematic subject of WWII aviation modelling.
