Italeri Plastic Model Kit
Italeri MC.202 Folgore Aces (1/72) 1481
The Macchi MC 202 Folgore in 1/72 scale captures the elegance and combat capability of one of Italy’s most successful World War II fighters. Developed for the Regia Aeronautica, the Folgore was a significant leap forward in performance, thanks to the integration of the German Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine, manufactured under licence in Italy. This allowed for substantial improvements over earlier Italian fighters, offering a top speed of 600 km/h and greatly enhanced manoeuvrability.
Early production models were equipped with two nose-mounted 12.7mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns, while later variants featured additional wing-mounted weapons for improved firepower. Aerodynamically refined and visually distinctive, the Folgore proved to be a formidable opponent in combat, capable of holding its own against Allied aircraft. This 1/72 scale kit includes five marking options for famous Italian fighter aces, each with historically accurate camouflage patterns.

History:
The Macchi MC 202 Folgore represented a turning point for Italy’s aerial capabilities during World War II. Introduced to replace earlier radial-engine fighters like the G.50 and MC.200, the Folgore combined sleek design with exceptional performance. Italian aces flying the MC 202 distinguished themselves across various fronts, particularly in North Africa and the Mediterranean. Today, the aircraft remains a symbol of Italian engineering and wartime aviation history.
