History:
The Mary Rose was a Tudor warship launched in 1511 and served as the flagship of King Henry VIII’s navy. It was a pioneering vessel for its time, armed with heavy guns and designed for both close combat and artillery duels. The ship famously sank in 1545 during a battle against the French fleet, only to be rediscovered and raised in 1982 in one of the most significant maritime archaeological finds of the 20th century. Today, the preserved remains of the Mary Rose are housed in a dedicated museum in Portsmouth. The Matchcraft Mary Rose Matchstick Kit pays tribute to this legendary vessel, offering hobbyists the opportunity to reconstruct in miniature a ship that defined an era of English naval power.
