History:
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, particularly the early D-11RE variant, was a workhorse of the Allied air forces in WWII. Armed with eight .50 calibre machine guns and capable of carrying bombs and rockets, the P-47 played a key role in both air-to-air and ground-attack missions. The “razorback” design of this variant featured a distinctive spine behind the cockpit, offering additional strength and armour protection. Pilots praised its ruggedness and ability to absorb damage and still return to base. Miniart’s kit captures this historic aircraft in remarkable detail, paying tribute to its wartime legacy and the engineering behind one of the most effective fighter-bombers of the conflict.
