History:
Mounted serjeants were an essential part of medieval military forces between 1150 and 1320. Unlike knights, they were often drawn from the lower nobility or professional soldier class and fought as light to medium cavalry. These men served as escorts, scouts, and supporting troops, frequently used in skirmishing or pursuit roles. During the Crusades and European campaigns, their numbers and reliability made them indispensable to commanders. Less wealthy than knights, serjeants wore simpler armour but still played a vital role on the battlefield. Wargames Atlantics Mounted Serjeants set captures their utilitarian appearance and versatility, making them a valuable addition to any medieval army historical or fantastical.
