History:
The BTR-50PK was developed in the Soviet Union during the 1950s as a fully amphibious armoured personnel carrier, based on the chassis of the PT-76 light tank. It could transport up to 20 infantry soldiers while providing protection against small arms fire and shrapnel. Widely adopted by Warsaw Pact nations and exported to Middle Eastern allies, the BTR-50 saw service in conflicts from the Cold War through to regional wars in the late 20th century. Although later replaced by more modern vehicles, it remained in use for decades thanks to its versatility and amphibious capabilities, leaving a lasting mark on Cold War armoured vehicle design.
