History:
The M109 series was developed in the early 1960s to provide the US and NATO with a versatile, mobile artillery platform. The A2 variant, introduced in the 1970s, featured improvements in firepower, range, and reliability. Armed with a 155mm gun capable of firing a variety of munitions up to 18 kilometres, the M109 A2 became a cornerstone of modern artillery. It saw extensive service in Europe during the Cold War, as well as in later conflicts in the Middle East and beyond. Its balance of mobility, protection, and firepower ensured its place as one of the most successful self-propelled guns of the 20th century.
